Alaea Volcanic Finishing Salt - Coarse

Alaea is a sea salt distinguished by the deep pink color of Alaea clay that is introduced during the harvesting process.

This finishing salt has a very clean and well-balanced flavor for a coarse finishing salt, and is used for both seasoning and preserving foods.

Hawaiians believe that the baked Alaea clay, which is composed of over 80 minerals, provides a variety of benefits, with detoxifying and healing powers. This red salt has also been used historically for ceremonial purposes such as blessing and purifying sea-going canoes, implements, and important household items.
