Himalayan Salt Block Cooking Class July 27th, 2009

Monday, July 27th, 2009 – 7PM

An evening at The Meadow learning the principles of preparing food on 600 million year old salt blocks from Pakistan. Together we will create, cook, and present a variety of foods, from the familiar to the eccentric.

We will arrange cold appetizers and snacks, then sauté vegetables and meats, and conclude by concocting an unusual dessert or two. Heating, cleaning, and storage will also be discussed. New to this event, we will also explore the opportunities to create new flavor combinations by shaving Himalayan pink salt with salt graters.

This 1˝ hour class includes snacks, wine and an in-depth discussion of everything you ever wanted to know (and everything you never knew you always wanted to know), about cooking with plates and blocks and bricks and rocks of Himalayan Pink salt.
